Robert Hollister is a doctoral student in Plant Biology. He is studying the response of tundra vegetation to temperature enhancement for his degree. Small chambers are used to simulate global warming and monitor the response of the plant species in Barrow and Atqasuk, Alaska. This work is in close collaboration with the International Tundra Experiment (ITEX). Based on his research, Robert hopes to forecast vegetation change in the Arctic. By doing this Robert hopes to forecast the future vegetation of the Arctic twenty-five years from now. He works in the Arctic Ecology Laboratory with Dr. Webber and is project manager of the ITEX program at Michigan State University.

Robert grew up in Lansing. He has earned a dual Bachelors degree from the Lyman Briggs School and Department of Zoology, and a Masters degree from the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at MSU. His current research activities involve arctic ecology and global change but he has an interest in temperate wetlands as well. Bob's hobbies include sculpture, photography, and travel.
