INTRODUCTION

The general theme of this course is to provide knowledge about the relationship between biology and information. We will explore this relationship by learning about the principles behind information, technology, and human interaction as they relate to biology. A particular emphasis will be on examination of biology and information at larger scales of organization including landscapes, watersheds, and political boundaries as well as regional and global scales of organization. We will examine datasets associated with meteorology, landform, populations of organisms, including humans, and agricultural production.
