Workshop Objectives
  • To inform participants about the LUCC Enterprise purpose and objectives
  • To stimulate interaction among campus researchers
  • To develop collaborations within the academic community.

Workshop Format
  • Brief overviews of the general concepts behind the development of a research enterprise on the MSU campus
  • Directed break-out group sessions where faculty can address specific issues and identify priorities, strategies, and requirements in smaller, focused group discussions.

Workshop Schedule
  • Session 1: Introductions and overview (8:30 am-10:00 am)
  • Session 2: Breakout groups (10:00 am-12:00 am)
  • Working lunch provided by the Kellogg Center (12:00-1:00)
  •  Session 3: Reports from the breakout groups (12:30-1:00)

  • What are the significant land use-related research topics that can focus the campus agenda?
  • What external research grant program opportunities exist to which MSU should be responsive?
  • What can MSU do in terms of internal investment to better position MSU faculty to respond successfully, (i.e. in terms of intramural granting, technology investment, and facilities infrastructure)?
  • How can faculty research collaboration and teaming be enhanced?
  • How can research initiatives enhance outreach and service roles of the university?
  • How can MSU research initiatives support graduate student scholarship and collaborative interdisciplinary research?
