Forming the Enterprise
  • Skole and Gage develop the Strategic Partnership Grant Proposal and submit to Administration
  • Proposal Title: Pattern to Process: Development of a Signature Program in Land Use and Land Cover Change (an Interdisciplinary Environmental Research Initiative at Michigan State University
  • SPG awarded to Gage and Skole
  • Administration establishes Manley Miles Building as the focal point for the Enterprise Zone

  • Skole and Gage establish protocols for the Enterprise and Skole directs transformation of the Enterprise Zone to embody the Land Use and Land Cover change thrust
  • Gage encouraged to move program in Natural Science to Manley Miles
  • Computational Ecology and Visualization Laboratory (CEVL) established by Gage
  • SPG Advisory Committee established to guide development of the Enterprise (Skole, Gage Corey, Groop, Stevenson, Maurer)

Enterprise Land Use and Land Cover Change Forums at MSU
  • Enterprise Advisory Committee plans to engage MSU faculty in Land Use and Land Cover Change
  • An MSU Forum on Land Use and Land Cover Change is developed, supported and implemented in the Kellogg Center (Big Ten Room)
  • The success of the first Forum spawned two additional events with a similar theme and have become an annual event

  • MSU Land Use and Land Cover Change research, education and outreach events attract over 200 faculty and staff
  • Introductory remarks set stage for MSU faculty interaction
  • Over 100 posters present research and outreach across local to international land use change issues
  • Poster presentations judged and awards presented to best poster in several category
